The Social Media Content Creator will support Free Periods Canada’s online presence by developing impactful social media strategies, producing high-quality content, and engaging with our digital community.

The Social Media Content Creator will be responsible for:

  • Developing and carrying out a social media strategy
    • Identify target audiences and define content themes aligned with organizational goals
    • Establish a posting schedule, set measurable objectives, and recommend platform-specific approaches.
  • Creating educational and mission-aligned content
    • Create on-camera video content (such as reels or short educational clips) and speak confidently about menstrual equity and the organization’s mission.
    • Produce high-quality posts in multiple formats, including carousels, reels, stories, graphics, and long-form content, where relevant.
    • Collaborate with team members to source information, visuals, and stories.
  • Serving as an organizational ambassador online
    • Represent the organization’s values, tone, and mission in all digital communications.
    • Build relationships with partner organizations and relevant communities through thoughtful engagement.
    • Respond to comments, questions, and messages in a timely and professional manner.
  • Monitoring and analyzing performance using social media analytics
    • Track engagement, reach, follower growth, and post performance using platform analytics and/or third-party tools.
    • Use data to refine content strategy and optimize posting times and formats.

About Free Periods Canada:

We are on a mission to make menstrual health equitable in Canada. We research to inform and support advocacy work for menstrual equity, connect people and advocacy organizations to build community, and provide period supplies to those in need to work towards menstrual equity and an end to period poverty.

About the Menstrual Equity Education Program:

Free Periods Canada partners with other non-profit organizations to offer workshops on various topics related to menstrual health, including the ME102 and ME102 workshops. Menstrual Equity 101 (ME101) is an interactive, engaging workshop designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to drive change in their community. Menstrual Equity 102 (ME102) equips educators and youth service providers with the tools, activities, and resources needed to effectively teach youth about menstrual equity. The goal of this workshop is to build capacity among those working with young people, enabling them to confidently deliver meaningful lessons and engage in informed, impactful discussions about menstrual health

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • Experience in social media content development, ideally within a non-profit or community-focused setting.
  • Strong understanding of social media strategy, including content planning, audience targeting, and platform-specific best practices
  • On-camera confidence, with the ability to speak clearly and knowledgeably about menstrual equity and social issues.
  • Demonstrated experience producing high-quality multimedia content.

  • Excellent organization and communication skills with the ability to translate information into accessible content.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while also taking initiative and working independently when needed

  • Availability to travel occasionally within the Greater Toronto Area to support on-location content production with team members.

Nice to Have

  • Preference will go to those based in the Greater Toronto Area from March 2026 to March 2027 to maintain program goals.

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages, is preferred.
  • Experience or familiarity with non-profit organizations, feminist activist groups, or community advocacy work is a plus.

Compensation:

  • This role offers a competitive hourly rate of $28/hour, 10 hours per week
  • Non-linear workdays and flexible work hours are offered, allowing for a degree of flexibility in the work schedule
  • Paid week off in August 24-28, 2026 and January 4-8, 2027
