Gurneet Bhela

Gurneet is the Program Manager for the Menstrual Equity Education program at Free Periods Canada. With a Master’s degree in Health Evaluation from the University of Waterloo, she is a public health program evaluation specialist committed to using research and data to drive evidence-based decision-making. She is deeply passionate about health equity and is dedicated to breaking taboos surrounding menstruation to help build a stigma-free world. Gurneet is dedicated to advancing menstrual equity through education, community engagement, and policy advocacy. She was the lead author of the Menstruation in Emergencies report, developed by Free Periods Canada, which brought critical attention to the menstrual health needs of people affected by crises and disasters. She has previously served as a Youth Engagement Advisor with Cuso International, a Youth Advocate with Plan International Canada, and a Young Director with Fora: Network for Change. Across all of her work, Gurneet brings a strong intersectional lens the power of youth-led change.
