Sophia Greene is a white Irish settler living on the traditional and unceded ancestral lands of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱w.7mesh (Squamish), and Səl.K lwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Their background is in sexual health research, the anti-violence movement, and queer-centering sex ed. They hold a Master’s in Sociology from the University of Victoria, are a certified Sexual Health Educator through Options BC, and are training in an Abortion Doula program. They are also a Program Manager at the Sex Information and Education Council of Canada, teach freelance sex ed, volunteer in their community, and are a practicing ceramic, chainmail, and print artist. Sophia is committed to breaking down stigmas around our bodies that are taught to us by systems of oppression like patriarchy and colonialism. They believe in bell hooks’ words that the classroom is a “radical space of possibility” in inciting liberatory change for ourselves and our neighbours.
